Hi to all,

Some Company Women members and guests are doing the walk so if you want to join us then please contact me at belinda@companywomen.org or 965 060 542. Most of you know someone who has cancer or had it or even lost someone close so come along and join in the fun while doing something very worthwhile. I personally lost a family member last November so I feel very passionate about doing this, plus it will be a great fun way to raise funds. Maria told me that the statistics now read at 1 in 3, so by raising funds we can at least help towards researching this horrible disease. There will not be a cure in our lifetime but think of your children and the younger generation. Partners, husbands, dogs and kids all welcome! Our May Company Women Lunch will be focusing on’ A Spring in Your Step in the Right Direction’

We all loose our way sometimes or get a bit stuck in a rut so lets get some bright ideas together and have a catalyst meeting. Company Women is all about support and a fresh approach may be the answer.

Our May lunch will be held at the popular Piedra De La Luna restaurant in Benimar 2, we were so looked after last time we just had to return.

One4 speaker slot is available at the lunch, so if you would like to promote your company as one of our May speakers then please email Ena at enacummings@hotmail.com

We look forward to seeing and sharing with you our plans for the next few months. These include the outcome of the AGM , future events, and going back to some of our favourite venues.

Gemma Broad previously from Europa network will be there promoting her new role as Female Wealth Management which is part of Continental Wealth Management which is a Company that gives Financial Advice. Her role is dealing with QROPS which is releasing pensions and she will be particularly concentrating on Women as she feels a Woman prefers dealing with another Woman when it comes to financial discussions.

Don’t forget your business cards and promotional material for the table provided and of course for our free lunch business card draw. We will be hosting our usual raffle for our chosen charity this year the Easy Horsecare Rescue Centre.

CW would also like to invite volunteers for a fun filled few hours helping out at the Easy Horsecare Centre….you don’t have to be good with horses, there is plenty to do there apart from mucking out etc…..the charity shop, lots of other animals to be fed and watered or even serving refreshments and cakes. The date is to be confirmed….there will be lots of press for this so maybe you would like to bring colleagues along for a team building session! Please see me or contact me for more info.

I met Maria recently from Pink Ladies and I have a sponsorship form for doing the 5km walk from Playa Flamenca on June the 10th, so lets get a CW gang together and help towards researching this terrible disease. We all know someone or have lost someone to Cancer, so spare a few hours in the the sun and lets going ‘walking on sunshine’ together for this great cause!

Tje BBQ food is prepared by top chef Mark who worked for Eduardo’s Restaurant La Finca Campoamor till recently, should be good and the entertainment is first class too !!

The Emerald Isle owners have been fantastic the past year, supporting our charity in every way they can, including a chalet to run a charity store.. which has been very successful.

The resort is very popular with ex-pats in Orihuela Costa, especially those that enjoy Green Bowls, they play to International level I understand.

We all do hope you can attend or pop in to have lunch with us on your way to another event if you are in our area that day.

does anyone know any young fit guy/girl who needs work and likes the outdoors? The Easy Horsecare Centre has a vacancy to help with the paddocks and the stables. The work is 6 days per week and IS PAID WORK! (no horse experience necessary), but must be fit, healthy and strong)

After our glamorous awards ceremony last month it is now back to networking! A huge thank you goes to everyone who supported us and came along, we hope you had a great night, we sure did.

Karen also won the Coastrider Pride of Spain awards last year and in between running her successful business she managed to star in a few episodes of Benidorm…..(the one in the white gloves)

It’s our 7th year this year so it proves it works, and many of our members have been involved since the very first lunch. I first came to live in Spain 8 years ago and I settled in the Benimar/Rojales area before finding that I simply wasn’t learning any Spanish whatsoever. My partner Chris and I decided that a move to a village where there would be hardly any English speakers was a must for us. We spent a year in a very small place called El Saladar (Almoradi) where we were very happy indeed as we were completely accepted there – Chris played in the church band and I sang in the choir. We made some super friends there. At present, we live in another little village called San Felipe Neri on the outskirts of Catral and we have been here for 2 years.

In the UK, I worked as a milk lady with my own franchise round in the Manchester area which I thoroughly enjoyed for 10 years!
I have always worked for other people since I arrived here and, up until last summer, was perfectly happy with that. I just did my jobs, got paid and went home – no responsibility. However, Chris and I found ourselves at an all time low financially last year and knew we had to do something to change the situation we were in. You know it’s bad when you have to go without yourselves to feed your doggies!! Anyway, not ones to be kept down for long we came up with the idea of selling costume jewellery. Several occurrences led us to this decision and on October 6th I hosted the first ‘Crown Jewels’ party at my home. It went like a dream and between then and Christmas I managed to secure in excess of 30 bookings! I was meeting myself coming back and loving every second of it too, sometimes hosting 2 parties per day!! It felt wonderful to get my confidence back and really feel as though I was helping us to get out of the mess.

6 months on and together with the help, advice and encouragement from the ladies at Company Women and Chris’s boot firmly wedged up my backside, I have been able to purchase another car and we are slowly but surely on the way back up again.
I am involved in lots of ladies clubs where I will sometimes give a talk about how ‘Crown Jewels’ came to be and I also try to do as many exhibitions as possible too as I find them great fun and the contacts made are incredible.

One thing that every woman should remember is this…….IT DON’T MEAN A THING IF YOU AIN’T GOT THAT BLING!!! xx
